CN 1000 FX

The CN 1000 FX (Fiber-to-the-X) extends the capabilities of the CN 1000 BLC configuration to provide integrated triple-play voice, data, and video service over any mix of copper and fiber terminations This enables carriers to deliver broadband services to today’s copper-based subscribers, while continuing to push fiber deeper into their networks - all the way to the end user.
CN 1000 Optical Line Terminal (OLT) plug-in cards provide both Fiber-to-the-Curb (FTTC) and Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) distribution options in the same CN 1000 chassis.
FTTC
The OLT blade provides single fiber, point-to-point connectivity (OC-3 rate) to Telcordia GR-909 compliant Optical Network Units (ONU). Each 24-port ONU can be either remotely or locally powered, and supports POTS, DSL, and a full suite of special services.
FTTP
The OLT provides single fiber, passive optical network (PON) connectivity to a range of optical network terminals (ONTs) supporting single family, MDU/MTU and small business applications. Compliant with ITU-T G.983 BPON standards, the FTTP solution supports a 32:1 PON split and a 20 km reach; it provides 622 Mbps downstream (1490nm) and 155 Mbps upstream (1310 nm). In addition, an optional (1550 nm) analog video overlay can be provided

CN 1000 FX ONU

The CN 1000™ FX Optical Network Unit (ONU) is a cost-effective platform for deployment of high bandwidth, Fiber-to-the-Curb (FTTC) access networks. It is a versatile, small line-size system for newly built “greenfield” neighborhoods, broadband over-build applications and remote, low density rural locations.

The ONU delivers voice, high-speed data, and video services, in a manner that complements the CN 1000 FX’s copper distribution and Fiber-to-the-Home/ Fiber-to-the Business (FTTH/FTTB) capabilities.
It retains the economic advantages of traditional, network-powered lifeline voice and copper distribution, while exploiting the attributes of a fiber-rich, high-bandwidth architecture.

The ONU support lifeline POTS, ADSL, narrowband specials and SHDSL, and it is fully engineered to support ADSL2+ and VDSL services. Using Ciena’s innovative POTS+DSL chipset technology, the ONU supports hands-off remote provisioning and management, dramatically reducing lifecycle costs.
